About Us

We are

The Heritage Fair is fashioned after the popular science fair concept. The principles are the same except the focus is on Canadian heritage. Project topics are very diverse and may focus on history, heritage, geography or culture.

Our Fair is a two-day program open to students in grades 4-9. The first day students set-up their projects then participate in history workshops. The second day, their projects are evaluated and presented to the public.

This annual event takes place the first weekend in May.

Our Fair is organized by a dedicated core of teachers and museum educators.

2012 Fair

The 2012 Edmonton Regional Heritage Fair is scheduled to take place on May 4 and 5, 2012. Student activities will be held on Friday, May 4 and the public display and judging will occur on Saturday, May 5.

Due to ongoing construction at the Alberta Legislature grounds, we will once again be holding the fair at MacEwan University’s Robbins Health Learning Centre in Edmonton. We are pleased to announce, however, that we will be able to reintroduce the Alberta Legislature tours and mock-Leg program as options for the Friday student activities.

Our theme for 2012 is celebrating the Alberta Federation of Labour’s 100th Anniversary. We encourage students to consider this theme when selecting their project topics, however they are not required to do so and may opt for another project theme.

If you are interested in participating in the 2012 fair as a student, teacher, judge or as a member of our organizing committee and would like more information, please email Sharon Klein at: coordinator@edmontonheritagefair.com
